E-HAPPY Program set to expand youth jobs through agriculture and technology
The KNUST E-Learning Centre and Agri-Impact Limited have agreed to expand the e-HAPPY Project to create more jobs for young people by leveraging digital technology to enhance agricultural productivity in Ghana.

The partnership meeting was held at the KNUST E-Learning and hosted by Professor Eric Appau Asante, Director of the Centre, and Professor Nana Ewusi-Mensah, Project Lead for the e-HAPPY Program and Head of the Instructional Unit at the center.

The Agri-Impact team was led by Group CEO Mr. Daniel Acquaye and Deputy CEO Mrs. Juliana D. Asante, along with board members. The meeting focused on the progress of the e-HAPPY project and the dire need to scale up.
It was agreed the next three years, the e-HAPPY Project will seek to create 15,000 more jobs for young people with a focus on 95% women and persons with disabilities.

A board member of the Agri-Impact team commended the e-HAPPY Project Management team for ensuring that there is great inclusivity. The project lead emphasized that the e-HAPPY Project has within 12 months created 472 jobs, trained more than 300 young people, 130 of whom own small-scale businesses.
Through micro-grants, the project aims to push trained participants further, refine prototypes, and enhance their market potential.” During the meeting, members present at the meeting had the opportunity to view some of the products developed with participants, especially business websites.
Professor Asante highlighted that, participants didn’t have websites.
“Now, they’ve built e-commerce platforms where people can log in and buy products” The e-HAPPY Project is part of a bigger plan to attract young people especially females and persons with disabilities into agribusiness.

The team toured the KNUST E-Learning Centre’s podcast studios, virtual reality studios, data center, and online teaching studios. Participants were shown how KNUST is preparing students for industries like agriculture by using digital tools such as virtual agricultural extension services.
